Tragic Churches

II Thessalonians 3:14-15

14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

The tragedy of many modern, prosperous, complacent, indulgent “Christian churches” is that they are full of two kinds of people:

  1. Those who are not Christians at all.
  2. Those who are Christians, but are such that the only brotherly treatment the Scripture allows us to give them is to admonish them.

Worst of all they are like false prophets saying, “Peace, peace.” when there is no peace. Unlike the man who produced the fake bomb detectors, they cannot be sued in the courts, but they are likely to cause an even worse fate than the fake bomb detectors, eternal separation from God.
