God’s Investment

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

I preached on this verse on Sunday.  In a discussion later, Shellie Smith said, “He has too much invested in us to just let us go.”

God’s Investment — The Father

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God’s Investment — The Son

I Peter 1:18-19

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

God’s Investment — The Spirit

Ephesians 1:13-14

13 …in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance….

    OK, Jon, You are the scholar in this area, not me. Why, when I read this post did I immediately think of the hymn, “How Great Thou Art”?

      And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
      Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in.
      That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
      He bled and died to take away my sin.
