“I See Everything Different Now”

This is not the exact wording.  I removed some details, but below is the essence of what someone in our church told me Sunday.

I went to the movies with someone yesterday.  By the time I’d been there ten minutes, I didn’t want to be there anymore.  It was horrible.

I suppose I should have been more careful and checked it out more before I went.  We saw the advertisements for it on the sides of buses and we thought it would be good.

It was so immoral, and so much swearing.  And it started right away, like I said, by the time it had been ten minutes I wanted to leave.  I didn’t want to be seeing it.  It was all so corrupt.  Why would people pay to see that kind of stuff?  Who thinks this stuff is good entertainment?

It wasn’t just the movie, it was the trailers for other movies before it started.  They are terrible, so much corruption, they show so much that I didn’t want to see.  It’s just not decent anymore.

I think it is worse than it used to be.  I think that movie would have been triple X a few years ago.  I don’t think they’d have showed it.  There are things that come on the telly now that I think would have been X-rated in the 70s.  It’s not just the immorality and the language, the violence is a lot worse, too.  Why do people pay to watch violence?  What is wrong with them?

It’s getting so we mostly only watch DVDs now, and I’ll think twice before going to the movies again.

But I admit it might not have bothered me so much a couple years ago.  It’s different now.  I don’t want to see that stuff.

I see everything different now.

II Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

There is evidence of sanctification in action! Praise the Lord!

  2. lyn says:

Praise be to God! – the entertainment industry is so saturated with filth, it’s driven by Satan.
Isn’t it amazing how God changes us from the inside out? The things we once loved, we now abhor. God the Spirit continually works in us to transform us more and more into His image, to the praise and glory of the Father.

It’s best to stay home and open up God’s word 🙂

Thank you both. Sometimes these kinds of changes are instant, sometimes they take time, but God’s work in us always goes forward.

  4. Eliza says:

Praise God for His faithfulness to continue His work in us to will and work for His good pleasure as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. God bless you:)
