It’s ALWAYS a Good Time to Teach Your Kids

I wanted to post this a week ago, but it’s been a very busy week for me, so the blog has had to wait.

A few weeks ago, I posted A New Name, Written Down in Glory, as our church rejoiced over the salvation of a young boy who had placed his trust in Christ.  Last Sunday, we again had glorious news and were able to sing that song again.  Another child had come to Christ on her way to school one morning that week.

It brought to mind this passage:

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

When the Lord becomes part of your family life, when you speak of him when you sit in your house, when you travel on your way, when you have reminders of his grace and mercy in your house, your children will always be hearing of Him, learning of Him.  It is ALWAYS a good time to be teaching your children of our Saviour.

And when you do that, you never know when or where their hearts will open to His Word.  And it is ALWAYS a good time to trust in Him for cleansing and forgiveness of sin, always a good time to yield your life to the Master, always a good time to become one of His sheep.

It may be in the car on the way to school, it may be when you are on holiday, it may be at home or at a friend’s house.  It may be when thou liest down (one of our children was saved at bed time) or when thou risest up (I was saved at home, first thing in the morning).

There is no bad place, no bad time, to be saved.  And it is always a good time to tell your kids of the Saviour.

Thank you, Brother! I appreciated this. I’m afraid I often don’t capture the moment to mention the Lord Jesus Christ with my kids and encourage thinking of Him then, in the midst of the work or whatever. Good admonition.
