Transitions!

I just went through and changed some things on this blog. Where it used to say I am the pastor of Free Baptist Church, it now says “Former Pastor”. What a strange feeling that is!

Yesterday, I preached my final sermon here before our move. It was a blessing to “see” everyone on line.

My wife, Terri, has completed her initial six-week course of treatment, and we’ll be moving to Colorado next week. We expect to close the sale of our house here sometime later this week. The new owner has graciously permitted us to stay as long as we need after the sale. As of now, we are scheduled to leave Scotland on Monday for London, and fly out of London to America the next day.

I am praying for Pastor Paul and the church as they go forward in serving the Lord. There are some exciting things happening! We are trusting the Lord that His plan for the church meshes perfectly with His plan for us, and that He who “doeth all things well” has both us and the church in His mighty and loving hand.

  1. Hi Jon,

I will be praying for you and your family as you transition to America. Praying for your wife and her health. I am from Colorado. Will you be involved in a church ministry there?

Hi, Randy, thank you for your prayers! I can’t imagine not being involved in a church ministry in some way! But we don’t yet know which church and we have many uncertainties as to how much capacity we will have for involvement in the short term.

We’ll be in Colorado Springs. I have not really been able to give the pursuit of our future church home the attention it needs, but I’m sure the Lord has it in hand and will help us find the right place.

Hi Jon, Scotland will be short of a good man after Monday. I will be praying for you and the family that your move to Colorado goes smoothly and that our Father God will continue to lead and bless the Gleason family.

    • Jon Gleason says:

Alan, it falls to others to take up the slack in the Lord’s work here. Thus it has ever been. The Lord’s servants move on, others step forward. Maybe the Lord wants YOU to do more! 🙂 (That was effectively my sermon yesterday….)

Maybe I’ll be able to blog more often!

Thank you for your prayers. It’s a wonderful thing to know so many are praying for us.

Thankyou for that long correspondence we had a few years back, you were kind to persevere with me, you have stayed in my thoughts since then. Hope our future will be happy and fulfilling….

Pastor Gleason, I just read your blog about Terri’s sickness and your move to Colorado. Jan and I will be praying for Mrs. Gleason. I am sure that many others are praying as well. I am no longer on any social media. As a result, I have been unaware of some prayer requests. I am back now at Gethsemane. Pastor Harr left earlier this month. I will share this need with the folks there. I am sure that the older folks remember Allison and Kathleen. I love the verse you shared — “He doeth all things well.” So true.

    • Jon Gleason says:

Pastor Gatlin, thank you for your kind comment, and your prayers! God has been very, very good to us. We just celebrated our anniversary, one we didn’t think we have, and a date we set as “wouldn’t it be wonderful if God gave us that long” back in December. If you want to receive email updates on Terri’s condition, please let me know.

I will certainly pray for your ministry at Gethsemane. I continue to pray for your daughter. May the Lord richly bless you and your family.

I will pass this along to Allison and Kathleen.
