Christ’s Death and Ours

His death dealt with our sin

so that our death would take us to Him.

Scripture:

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness” (I Peter 2:24).

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8).

The Sledgehammer and the Peanut Shell

No one uses a sledgehammer to crack a peanut shell.

Except in interpersonal relationships….

Jesus wasn’t like that.

Matthew 12:18-20

18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

Early Rising

He that riseth late, must trot all day.
– Benjamin Franklin

Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
– David (Psalm 57:8-9)

Repost — Another Quick Thought on Joseph

Since I’m still unwell, I’ll continue to repost my articles from two years ago on Joseph.  Original article.  The original article triggered a long discussion about the genealogies of Christ recorded in Scripture, and I’ll probably boil that done into one or more articles.  But if you want to jump ahead on that, you could click through to the comments of the original article.
